Due to the rural nature and lack of infrastructure within the communities that many migrant and seasonal farmworkers (MSFWs) live, lack of access to transportation is a barrier to employment, career services, and training programs.

This technical assistance tool aims to demonstrate how NFJP grantees address transportation barriers, to provide information on some existing resources, draw attention to safety and compliance regulations, and highlight best practices among farmworker grantees.

The goal is to provide background on some of the barriers associated with rural transportation for migrant and seasonal farmworkers, share NFJP grantees’ promising practices among the NFJP community and others who serve customers who live in rural communities, draw attention to safety and compliance regulations, and provide information on some existing resources available at the state level.
