Monitoring is a critical task and essential role for states that receive U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) funding. Due to staff turnover, funding reductions and competing priorities, many U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Region 5 funding recipients have received little or no formal training on monitoring.

Monitors need to do more than just use checklists and monitoring guides to complete their work. It is important to know how to work collaboratively with grantees to understand the root causes of issues and to be able to identify and manage risk.

Maximizing the Monitoring Process is a 90-minute webinar for Region 5 state grantees based on a full-day workshop held last year in Los Angeles, CA. This webinar will highlight some of the key topics addressed at the workshop such as: preparation and planning before the monitoring visit, monitoring best practices, getting to root causes during the visit, and post-monitoring visit follow up.
